Prendendo come punto di riferimento sette pratiche, che ha osservato e raccolto nella periferia parigina Aubervilliers, la coreografa utilizza la tecnica del montage per incarnarle e riassemblarle sul palco. Riorganizzando la stratificazione delle rappresentazioni del corpo che queste pratiche comportano - e inevitabilmente le interpretazioni adottate che sono incise sul nostro corpo - la performer esamina uno spettro di attività abituali dall'ascolto della musica, alla boxe, alla preghiera, al pesarsi, al piacere di praticare Zumba. Disparate ma coerenti, l'insieme di pratiche di cui sopra ci ricorda che "un corpo non è mai singolare" chiedendo così un'indagine su ciò che produce queste rappresentazioni e su come la performer agisce nei ruoli di collectionneuse . L'assolo è accompagnato da un video di 15 minuti e dal libro Encyclopédie pratique , Portraits d'Aubervilliers , che può essere consultato in una sala di lettura accessibile al pubblico prima e dopo lo spettacolo. The solo Chosen Portraits, choreographed and performed by Lenio Kaklea, is the first output of the project Practical Encyclopaedia . Taking as her focal point seven practices, which she observed and collected in the Parisian suburb Aubervilliers, the choreographer uses the technique of montage to embody and re-assemble them on stage. By re-organizing the layering of body representations these practices carry - and inevitably the adopted interpretations which are inscribed on our bodies - the performer examines a spectrum of habitual activities from listening to music, boxing, praying, weighing herself, to taking pleasure in practicing Zumba. Disparate yet consistent, the above assemblage of practices remind us that “a body is never singular” thus calling for an investigation of what produces these representations and how the performer acts in the roles of the collectionneuse .
